 I have over 30 years experience in golf including playing, coaching and designing golf development projects.
In 2015 I turned professional off a handicap of +1 and joined The PGA of Europe studying a degree in Golf Science. I quickly knew coaching was going to be his passion. In my first 3 years of turning professional I started up 5 junior academies, delivered ‘Get In To Golf’ at 6 different venues and carried out the largest schools coaching project the North East has ever had(Over 70 sessions in primary schools). I was the first professional to be awarded ‘Safeguard accreditation’ at two different venues.

In 2019 I designed and then opened ‘The Players Lounge’ at Team Valley
(An indoor golf coaching centre) to cater golfers 12 months of the year. In 2020 I was accredited by The PGA and was also designated as a Specialised PGA Golf coach. Qualified in Golf Psychology, Sports Nutrition, a Sports Agent and a fully qualified PGA Professional I'm making a name for myself as one of the top coaches in the North East.

I've been been liaising with top coaches from The PGA of America over the last 3 years to learn the biomechanics of the golf swing and understand how a players physical build, flexibility and mobility can effect the golf swing but also enhance the players performance with the understanding of each individual.

Since 2021 I have produced over 200 wins nationally in qualifying competitions from players coached at The Player’s Lounge including ‘Faye Wheatley’ who won the European grand final of the Faldo Series. (One of the biggest junior tournaments in the world) which qualified Faye to play on the Ladies European Tour in 2022

In 2022 I produced the ‘Optimal Development Golfing Pathway’ The objective of the Pathway is to develop golfers that have the skills, characteristics and behaviours to thrive in the highest competitive golfing arenas, specifically playing on national and worldwide Tours.

Background

Steven turned professional in 2015 at the age of 37 after working in business development for a large period of his career. Originally from Newcastle he moved down south to Peterborough in the 80's with his parents, thats where he fell in love with the game at Thorpe Wood Golf Club. Steven won the Daily Telegraph Regional Junior Championship in 1992, losing out to eventual winner Allan McDonald in the finals. Steven then took golf seriously in his early twenties and played to a handicap of +1 before changing career in to the world of business.  

Steven moved back to Newcastle in 2012, got the golf bug again and aimed to develop golf in the North East of England while gaining experience and qualifications in all golfing areas. In the first 4 years he was professional he worked with England Golf and The Golf Foundation generating over 150 new members to local golf courses, coached to over 1500 individuals and started up 5 junior PGA Academies at different venues. Steven is the only PGA Professional to have gained 'Safegolf'  at two different golf courses, he has also carried out the largest 'golf in schools' project the North East has ever had and now will create opportunities to give all players the 'Pathway' in golf they choose.
